Strange familial circumstances, odd emotions, unfortunate situations, and temptations. Life is messy. However, you can change this. Perhaps your family is exactly how you imagined it would be. There are many ways to look at a certain situation. One of the most important is to understand you cannot change your circumstances without changing your attitude. What is the best attitude to cultivate? Being grateful of course! This turns you into an optimist, but one who is aware of all the good around you instead of just wishing for a better tomorrow. It simplifies your needs and desires. Having a shift of perspective and realizing that you have so much to be grateful for really helps shift your attitude to be one of joy instead of frustration or disappointment. There are many things to be grateful for. Let this post be the exploration of that. It might give you a fresh perspective in a time you need it most.

There's a good chance that if you are reading this right now and are asked how you would rate your health, you'd probably give yourself a B or an A. If you are suffering from something, it’s likely not so terrible that it prevents you from reading and sitting. There's a good chance that you're able to read this and comprehend the words strung together with little difficulty. That’s not something to be taken for granted. There are many people who have had to adapt to life without their eyesight or might have had a traumatic brain injury and what might seem like basic comprehension to us might be more difficult for them.I don't take my ability to read and write with ease for granted. That’s something to be grateful for, no matter how mundane or every day it seems. The truth is that nothing is mundane and everyday, just more or less familiar.
If you have anyone around you who cares for you or loves you, you should count yourself lucky. It’s a miracle how people bond together and care for one another with real, genuine effort. If you have four walls around you and a door to lock at night, you have somewhere safe to sleep at the end of the day. If you have a comfortable bed with pillows, hush blankets, and patterned cushions, somewhere to rest after a day of work, you have something that some people would dream to sleep in. If you have all the modern amenities, you might just have the home someone would absolutely adore to live in. It’s easy to see the flaws in your own home. Perhaps it’s not as clean as you’d like it. Perhaps that unforgiving stain on the carpet simply will not come out. Maybe the power sockets are in awkward positions and the lamp doesn’t quite reach to your bedside table. Does this really matter at the end of the day? Or is the fact you have a home, and even better people to share it with mean you have a supreme degree of comfort that helps you recharge your batteries?A home is not cheap, especially in the modern market. If you have been lucky enough to be assigned a suitable renter or to keep a good mortgage, you really have plenty to be proud of. If you’re at home now, take a look around and consider how lucky you are in these surroundings.
Human beings can be quite fractured at certain points. From strange or traumatic childhood situations that left their mark on the insecurities or challenges you have. But, the main thing is that you are here and able to live and love with those closest to you. That’s powerful enough to be grateful, no matter who you are.If are able to apply yourself towards something every day, whether you work a 9-5, are a stay at home mom, or retired, you have something to be grateful for.America has many issues, but if you live in our democracy no matter how strange its political tides, and if you have access to internet and computing power, you are likely in the top 6% of riches in the world. It might not feel like it, but you probably have many things to be grateful for. Remember to not take even the smallest of gifts for granted. This is something to be grateful for, no matter how peeved or annoyed at life you might currently feel.
