Homemade Avocado Smoothie
Check out the link up party at Jebbica's World for food and fitness Friday!Avocados are one of my new favorite fruits! I never had them growing up but since learning about how healthy they are I decided to try to integrate them more into my diet.Avocados are creamy and delicious, not to mention full of fiber, potassium and folic acid (to name a few health benefits). It is also a versatile fruit that you can add to a meal any time of the day!I did a Pinterest search for some avocado recipes and was not disappointed! I figured the easiest way to start was to make a smoothie. My smoothies have morphed into what I'm sharing with you now. The best part is it only contains a few ingredients! Ingredients:1 Ripe avocado1 Handful of spinach (can't taste it ;))1 TBS coconut oilA few pieces of frozen banana (It probably equates to about a 1/2 of a banana)1/2 C- 1 C almond milk (or another form of liquid, I like the little bit of sweetness from my almond milk, my husband uses organic whole milk and your usage will depend on how thick you want your smoothie) Directions:1. Add all ingredients into your blender except for the coconut oil2. Blend until desired consistency3. Add 1 TBS of coconut oil4. Blend a little to incorporate (If you add the coconut oil with everything at the beginning, the oil will solidify and it will be hard for it to blend well, I've learned the hard way to add it after mixing everything up first)5. Enjoy! There are many different variations of a homemade avocado smoothie, this is the one that I go to the most because it doesn't have as many ingredients :) I love how creamy and smooth it is!Have you ever made an avocado smoothie? What's your recipe?
