When You Feel Like Giving Up On Your Dreams

When You Feel Like Giving Up On Your DreamsHello, Dear Friends!  It feels great getting back into the saddle and writing to you all.We are getting into the groove of life with an infant who brings us joy every day.  We are relying on Christ as our source of strength and rest when we’re dragging.  More importantly, we’ve learned more about each other and have fallen deeper in love with one another and our Savior.  There have been some changes in the past couple of months besides the birth of Titus that have taken us for a loop.  One of the reasons we moved to our current location was for Micah to go to seminary.  It seems like every time we have tried to go that route something prevents us from moving forward.  At first, we were frustrated and confused.  We spent many nights praying and calling out to God wondering what was going on.  We’re still praying about it and seeking His Will.  At this juncture, we’re not sure if God still wants us to pursue seminary.  Micah still feels called to be a counselor in some form or fashion but we are welcome to the idea that he might not necessarily need to go to seminary for it.  We are resting in Him and His perfect timing.  What a wonderful God we serve!  When it seems like our dreams have met an end we are able to rest in His peace and sovereignty!  We are also very excited about what the future holds for us.  We are starting to dream about what our future might look like in terms of where we are going to live and what we are going to be doing now that we're debt free. We love that we are finally at the point where we can start building up our savings and pay off our house.  Once our house is paid off we want to buy some land and continue towards our ULTIMATE dream of owning a little homestead.  We’re not sure how many acres we want yet but we know for sure that we want to build our house from scratch and start off with the basics.  dreams1Our goals and dreams in list form go a little like this (in order of how we would like them to happen):

  1. Pay off our house
  2. Buy some land, probably around 10-15 acres
  3. Draft up our dream house (thanks to Pinterest, I already have a “dream house” board)
  4. Build said dream house
  5. Start my garden
  6. Get my chickens and guineas (maybe ducks)
  7. Get a goat or two (haven’t decided if I want a dairy cow or not, I’m going to see what it’s like to have a goat first and then go from there :)
  8. Build a barn
  9. Settle into the homestead lifestyle :)

My list is a little out-there because we all know that “life” happens and all of that could change!  My mindset is starting to slowly shift toward one of action.  All too often I am content to sit back and let my dreams remain dreams and not set actionable goals toward attaining them.  I’m thankful that I share this dream with my hubby because if that wasn’t the case it would be very difficult for me to stay on track.  I’m so glad to have an accountability partner in this life and I can’t wait to see what is in store for our future!  Stay tuned for some neat changes for the blog as well.  I can’t wait to share them with you once I iron out all of the details! What kinds of dreams are you pursuing?  Have you ever felt like giving up on them?  What has kept you going?
